Dave Willard is an experienced guitar teacher, providing guitar lessons in Morristown and Morris County, NJ area.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Dave Willard first fell in love with the guitar at age 12, cutting his teeth on Metallica riffs and Nirvana songs. By high school his influences had grown and he was already writing, recording and performing with original bands. After discovering a love for the recording studio as well as the guitar, Dave went on to study classical guitar and sound engineering at William Paterson University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2005.
As a private guitar teacher, Dave has a wealth of experience to draw upon. Teaching is something Dave gravitated towards naturally, finding it to be an incredibly fulfilling way to share the passion for his instrument. It all started simply enough, again back in high school, when friends began to ask him for guitar lessons. Soon enough through recommendations and word of mouth, Dave’s private student roster grew as he became quite a busy college student, juggling classes and a thriving private lesson business.
Adding to his teaching experience, Dave has worked with numerous music schools over the years. Most notably he spent 4 years as one of the lead guitar instructors for the School Of Rock in Long Valley (later to move to Randolph). There Dave honed his skills teaching both kids and adults the finer points of playing guitar with a curriculum based on classic rock in one-on-one and large group settings.
When he’s not teaching lessons, today you can find Dave playing in cover bands around the NJ club scene and writing informative music articles for Guitar-Muse.com and this site.
Currently, Dave works full time during the day and maintains a lesson schedule in the evenings. This combined with the fact that many of his students stick with him for years at a time means that available lesson times are very limited. Dave will try his best to accommodate new students.
